1878 cc Morgan Dollar belt buckle for $5.00 find
I rarely check thrift stores or pawn shops for deals anymore...
However after lunch today, I was a block away from a little more upscale thrift store.. In the collectable showcase was an 1878 Silver Dollar in a bezeled belt buckle for 9.99... I said "I will take it" ....the cashier looks at the green tag and says "its half price today, with tax that will be 5.44...." I get it home and take it apart and find it is a Carson City in very fine condition..!!!! KEEP LOOKING out there....ya never know No pics, I do not know how to do it....don't even own a camera. |

According to the 2010 Redbook, an 1878 CC Morgan dollar is worth $100 in VF (very fine) condition, $150 in XF (extra fine). Not bad for a $5 investment!

No GOLD BUCKLE...sorry.
Did score at an Estate sale today...in a small bookcase marked books $2.00 was a Whitman Bookshelf Quarter album...figured it was empty but looked anyhow, Had 5 Silver Quarters in it 1959, 1960, 61, 63, 64... Amazing nobody bothered to check...including people who were at the sale hours before me....I had been going to sales for years and found nothing but Yard Tools I needed.. |

Hey Bullionaire, nice to see you around again! The very first post I read here was yours, it seems like a lifetime ago now.
Glad to hear you made a nice score, it's always an uplifting event. Sometimes I'll find a gem worth no more than 20 bucks, but the finding is worth so much more. |

I got an ancient roman coin in great shape for 17 frns at a flea market yesterday. It was pretty nice, and every search I did on it had worse samples selling for about 30 frns.

Better check that Morgan to make sure it's not a fake. Counterfeiters love to make CC silver dollars.
